Woke up this morning to a fresh layer of snow topped off with a nice crust of freexing rain. I briefly wondered if today might be a good bus day, but then I remembered that I freakin hate the bus... so riding it was!
The downhill into the river valley was a sweet way to wake up, nothing like hot-footing it into icy corners as a way to get the blood flowing. By the time I hit the river valley I was encrusted in a thin layer of ice, which also included my glasses. Half-blind, I continued pounding along the pathway figuring if I was gonna go down, I might was well go down pedalling. I'm happy to report that not only did I not fall, but instead managed to pull off some sweet "tokyo drift" like corners.
The freezing rain quit while I sat in my office only to start up just as I started heading home. Traffic heading west out downtown was at a standstill and I happily waved at people stuck on Bow Trail as I flew by on the pathway. I'm sure I easily beat most of the drivers home by more than 10 minutes. It got even better when I got to the base of my final hill heading right up to my house. For the first time in my life, I beat a car up a hill and quite handily at that. The street was a skating rink which was giving two cars some serious ascending problems. I simply moved over and shot past them up the hill, and I don't even have studded tires. I'm sure they were just fuming.
Once I got home I learned that we had been visited by the Jehova's Witnesses, who were kind enough to pass on a reminder that THE END OF FALSE RELIGION IS NEAR.
Anybody else know this was coming? I sure didn't. Problem is, they didn't give a date nor did they clarify exactly which religions were false so I'm left kinda hangin.
That's funny...we got the same message from the Jehovah's Witnesses all the way down here in Nevada. I almost threw it away last night, but decided to save it for entertainment purposes.
